Are You Curious about Sun Protection?
As we all know the ozone layer is depleting and hence more ultraviolet radiation reaches the Earth surface. This will aggravate the effects on the human skin, eyes and immune system and in particular children.
The infants, babies, and toddlers are affected more seriously. Children are in a dynamic state of growth and are therefore more susceptible to environmental threats than adults. They are at a higher risk of suffering damage from exposure to UV radiation than adults.
UV Radiation and Skin Cancer
So what then is ultraviolet radiation or in short UV radiation? Why is UV radiation so dangerous? Why children require special precaution?
UV radiation causes skin cancer and accelerates skin ageing. Between two and three million skin cancer occur globally each year. One in five North Americans and one in two Australians will develop some form of skin cancer in their lifetime.
Most consider skin cancer to be a minor health concern. But in North America today, someone dies from skin cancer every hour.
How to Protect Yourself from UV Radiation?
I recommend a combination of methods. The simplest is stay away from the sun exposure or find a shade. Next use sun protective products like wearing wide brim hats, well designed sunglasses or visor and sun protective clothing. Sunscreen is a must, but used alone is usually not good enough.

My interested on
sun damage and protection started when a reputable dermatologist(skin specialist) advised my wife to stay away from the sun. Why, why, why? I think we all enjoy the sun! She has this medical condition called actinic keratosis which is common amongst the fair skin people and can become serious.
My wife and her name is May (not April or June) manages very well in her job as Head of Corporate Services but too "shy" to write. Hence I am taking over to write and in fact I have always been interested about health and being healthy. So I am most glad to share here about Sun Damage, Protection and You.
